自問蝶

Literally, “a butterfly questioning itself.”

At Sekibaku, this term refers to the technique that binds the arms close to the torso, the knuckles pressing gently yet distinctly into the throat.

It forms part of the Kasei sequence, though it can also be used independently as an intense and highly evocative form of play.

Belonging to the family of techniques known as kubi shibari (neck bindings), it is relatively safe when properly executed — yet profoundly oppressive in its psychological and physical effect.

The name combines two elements: chō (蝶, “butterfly”), referring to the hand shape, and jimon (自問, “introspection”), reflecting the inner state this technique often evokes in the receiver.

In Sekibaku, the aim is not to replicate aesthetic patterns but to explore desire as lived experience.

The first step toward fulfilling it is self-awareness — asking yourself the right questions.
