The iconic shibari figure by Ren Yagami is named after a variation applied to the "kanuki" (cinch).
It should not be confused with the Takate Kote, as it is an entirely different technique. Although they may appear similar at first glance, their function and construction are completely distinct.
This tie belongs to the Shoden Keito group of techniques (初伝系統).
